

The Institute of Special Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine is a leading scientific establishment of the state which determines perspectives of special pedagogy and psychology, realizes fundamental and applied researches concerning education and upbringing problems of children with psychophysical development disabilities.
The scientific structure of the institute is formed by 8 departments.
The basic directions of the Institute researches are:
- elaboration of scientific-theoretical principles of education and upbringing of children with psychophysical development disabilities;
- elaboration and application of innovation technologies and appropriate models of teaching;
- scientific researches results reduction to teaching and upbringing practice of children with psychophysical development disabilities;
- scientific staff preparation through the postgraduate center and the doctorate, participation in the continuing pedagogical education;
- instructional supports help provision to families, institutions and establishments which provide with manifold range of services to mentioned children, etc.;
- popularization of knowledge about development and teaching peculiarities of children with special needs.
The results of scientific-theoretical researches of the Institute are the basis of important normative documents in the special education branch, monographs, and scientific-methodological manuals. The scientific-search groundwork is put into contemporary textbooks for different types of special schools, educational programs, manuals, and methodological recommendations.
The Institute of special pedagogy of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine invites for collaboration establishments and institutions which are interested in common scientific researches, organization of new international projects in the field of special pedagogy and developmental psychology, elaboration of innovative technologies, and developmental teaching models.
